Job Details
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (May 11, 2026 – August 10, 2026)
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,910 – $2,010 (competitive travel nursing pay)
- Setting: ICU/PCU Float Pool (Resource Nursing Pool) — travel ICU RN / critical care RN role
- Shifts: 3x12-hour night shifts (18:45 – 07:15), 36 hours per week
- Location: Roanoke, VA 24014 — travel nursing jobs in Roanoke, Virginia
- Charting: EPIC (EPIC charting experience preferred)
- Orientation: 24 hours
Qualifications / Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Virginia or Compact State) — ICU RN / critical care RN required
- Minimum 1 year of recent ICU experience (2+ years preferred) in Level I or II trauma centers or large acute care hospitals
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS required
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical record
- Comfortable floating to all ICU and PCU units; floating may occur up to every 4 hours per shift
- COVID-19 and Flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
- Availability to work at least 1 holiday during the assignment and every other weekend (6 weekend shifts per 6-week block)
- First-time travel nurses and experienced travel ICU RNs are welcome
Core Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality critical care nursing across ICU and PCU units as part of the float/resource pool
- Manage arterial lines, central/PICC lines, and initiate/maintain IVs
- Administer blood products and continuous IV sedation; titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips per protocol
- Provide respiratory support including BiPAP/CPAP and ventilator management for ventilated patients
- Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias; obtain and interpret 12-lead EKGs and monitor telemetry
- Follow IV insulin protocols, infection prevention standards, and evidence-based critical care practices
- Perform wound care including management of surgical wounds and wound vacs
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams — respiratory therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, and physicians — to optimize patient outcomes
- Adapt quickly to changing unit assignments, patient acuity, and workflow demands in a fast-paced Level I Trauma Center
