SCHEDULE

Daylight Shift

8-hour shift

Overtime may be required

Responsibilities The skilled Machinist/Grinder will have 10 years’ experience on surface grinders, rotary grinders, centerless grinders and/or ID/OD grinders. Must possess manual dexterity and an eye for detail. Knowledge of mathematics and mechanics as well as respect for safety precautions is necessary. The goal is to ensure effective production operations and optimize procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Follow all safety procedures and guidelines

Review drawings or instructions to understand specifications of output

Plan the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job

Select appropriate machines (e.g. surface grinder) and position or load material for a job

Determine speed and feed rates

Run multiple grinding machines

Monitor machine while working to adjust the feed, maintain temperature and identify issues

Check output to ensure consistency within specifications

Keep records of approved and defective units

Perform routine machine maintenance

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Proven experience as a machinist

Ability to set-up and troubleshoot machine tools

Experience in using and setting manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines (lathes, grinders, etc.)

Ability to use precision tools (micrometers, indicators, etc.) to take accurate measurements

Knowledge of the properties of ceramic material a plus

Ability to read blueprints

Strong mathematical and geometric skills with excellent analytical abilities

Familiar with Diamond grinding wheels

Familiar with machine shop equipment

High school diploma or equivalent

5 years’ experience working with close tolerances on grinding equipment

Individual must be a

Citizen of the United States, or

Permanent resident alien of the United States, or

Protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) as defined by 22CFR120.15

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE PREFERRED

Vocational training certification and/or an apprenticeship highly preferred

10 years’ experience working with close tolerances on grinding equipment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to stand for 8+ hours per day

Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.

Exposure to the manufacturing area which requires the use of personal protective equipment

Exposure to shop environment such as noise, dust, heat and odors

Required to reach above shoulder height and/or below the waist
